Antigua is one of our favourite islands with its well documented 365 white sand beaches and coves, there’s a different one for each day of the year. Antigua is a great all year round destination and caters well for all types of holiday maker. Known as the “Heart of the Caribbean “, Antigua sets the rhythm to a truly chilled-out pace of life. With it’s close links to British history, Antigua is a great place to explore, with museums, forts, sugar mills and beautiful natural harbours all providing an insight of time gone by when Nelson and grand sailing ships were frequent visitors.

Sailing and water-based activities are popular on Antigua, but with its array of great beaches and selection of beautiful resorts, it’s no wonder many of our clients return year after year.

Nelson’s Dockyard & English Harbour

Enjoy a trip to this beautiful historic site which is the only preserved Georgian naval facility still in use anywhere in the world. There are many little cafés and restaurants, as well as a museum displaying memorabilia from the time Admiral Nelson made this his base in the 18th Century. Today this stunning harbour attracts many visitors due to its vibrant yachting scene.

Sunday – Join the Vibrant Fun and Party at Shirley Heights

Every Sunday afternoon this restored garrison, with amazing panoramic views of English Harbour, Guadeloupe & Montserrat, comes alive with the island’s biggest barbecue and steel band concert. If you don’t want to eat, simply pop along, enjoy the music and soak up some true Antiguan vibe. You can also walk up to Shirley Heights via the Lookout Trail, a nature trail through the forest which starts from English Harbour.

Explore Fig Tree Drive

Driving in Antigua is really easy as the island is small and relatively flat. Exploring scenic Fig Tree Drive, you’ll pass through rainforest, old sugar mills and churches. But, if you don’t fancy driving yourself, it’s easy to arrange a private driver and guide.

Take a Boat Trip Around the Island

No visit to Antigua is complete without seeing many of the 365 beaches and the easy way to do this is from the water. Day sailing trips take you right around the island, with plenty of time to enjoy snorkelling and swimming in the warm clear waters to include lunch at Green Island.

Pop Over to Barbuda

Antigua’s little sister and well known for its 17 miles of pink sand beach, Barbuda is sparsely populated and undeveloped. The fast ferry whizzes over from Antigua on a regular basis. It’s a perfect day-out and great for snorkelling, exploring the reefs and the beach, or to visit the exotic bird sanctuary across the lagoon.

Eat Eat Eat

There’s a great choice for food lovers on Antigua. Papa Zouk is a great choice for it’s Creole seafood, but for something a bit more sophisticated, head for The Cove perched on the cliff at Boon’s Point. The Bistro at St Johns is one of our favourites for authentic French cuisine, and for a taste of the Orient, head down to East at Carlisle Bay which serve amazing pan-Asian food.
