Rajkot Cricket Holidays & Tours

Like so many of India’s cities Rajkot has grown dramatically in recent times. A booming economy means it’s now home to more than 1.5 million people and one of Gujarat’s fastest growing urban centres. Rajkot’s most famous son is Mahatma Gandhi and the city is proud of the years he spent here as a child. Alongside examples of Indian culture you’ll also see many examples of the days of the Raj in spacious public parks and impressive Victorian architecture.

Rajkot’s top visitor attractions provide a blend of cultures and styles. The city boasts many temples and shrines, parks and museums. For a few minutes of quiet contemplation head to the peaceful and serene pink towered Ramakrishna Ashram. The open, inviting Jubilee Garden features many colonial monuments, at its centre the impressive Connaught Hall. The Watson Museum offers a glimpse in to Rajkot history while the Doll Museum is a quirky celebration of all things cute and petticoated!

Things to do....

Gandhi’s childhood home

Mohandas Gandhi is without doubt India’s most celebrated son and an inspiration to many around the world. Gandhi’s father was a counsellor to the ruler of Gujarat and the family lived in Rajkot for eight years. So as a result many feel the city help shaped his ideals and beliefs. The small, whitewashed family home, Kaba Gandhi No Delo, may seem unremarkable from the outside but contains a fascinating glimpse into Gandhi’s childhood. Artefacts include the handloom he used – a symbol of the very simple life led by a figure of world-renown.

Attractions near Rajkot

Within easy reach of Rajkot you can visit ancient cities teeming with history and wildlife. During winter, the city of Jamnagar is famous for its bird sanctuaries and serene lakes, teeming with vivid flocks of migratory fowl. Many visitors also flock to Junagadh, an ancient, fortified city at the base of the holy Girnar Hills, renowned for its architecture and its busy bazaar.
